MauMa 2024 Orange Wine, “Vin Méthode Nature”

14.20

Tasting:

The nose is rich, with a blend of delicate fruity notes—green apple and Abate pear—followed by intense notes of orange zest and thyme.

The palate is pleasing, with an aromatic freshness that echoes the nose. Its texture fills the mouth from start to finish with tension and finesse. The finish is both creamy and tannic, due to malolactic fermentation and extraction during skin contact.

Food and Wine Pairings:

Characterized by a lovely freshness, a round palate, and light tannins, MAUMA pairs perfectly with a wide variety of dishes. For example, it makes the perfect companion to a platter of oysters enjoyed with friends. This unique wine also pairs perfectly with sweet-and-sour Asian dishes. To fully appreciate its freshness and minerality, MauMa should be served at 12°C; its richness and fruitiness on the palate will develop at 14°C in the glass.

Wine Production :

MAUMA is the result of a meticulous winemaking process, from the harvest of the grapes to bottling. Each step is carried out as naturally as possible.

The grape clusters are destemmed directly into open vats, where they begin to ferment naturally. After two weeks, the juice—still fermenting—is racked off, and the grapes are gently pressed. All of the juice is then transferred to small stoneware amphorae and 400-liter acacia and oak barrels, where it finishes fermenting and is then ready for a long aging period on the lees lasting six months.

Our take on the traditional method of making orange wine, combined with the unique quality of our grapes, makes MAUMA an exceptional wine, with remarkable finesse and suppleness.
